A recipe for Chemical Water (for use in painting dyes):

To make up 1 quart:

1 cup Urea (dissolve in warm water)

1 tsp Ludigol (optional but helps hold the dye in the fabric during washout)

To activate the water (do this when you are ready to paint as the activated dyes will only last a week or two)

Add 1 tablespoon of Soda Ash per quart of Chemical Water

To use mix 1 part dye to 4 parts Chemical Water (or more for lighter shades) ... you will need to experiment as concentrations will vary by the dye color and brand.
