Dear Leland Students and Parents,
Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! Founded in 2001 to support the Media Center fundraising effort, Leland Bridge has become an integral part of Leland High School’s support structure, blossoming over the last 20 years thanks to the support of parents, encouragement from school administration, and continuous recognition from SJUSD, the City of San Jose, and local communities.
Leland Bridge is a nonprofit organization made up of Chinese American parents, dedicated to facilitating communication between Leland High School and the 300+ Chinese American families in the Leland community. We are committed to promoting parent involvement in school-wide activities. We believe that well-informed, actively-involved parents help our school provide a better educational experience for all students at Leland. A Chinese-language newsletter is published twice a year and emailed to families to update parents on important topics. We also send out information from our “Principal’s Chat” each month. To support Leland fundraising efforts, we host a musical and cultural performance event every year called Leland Bridge Night, around Chinese New Year. Leland Bridge Night not only serves as our major fundraising event, but also provides an opportunity where two generations, parents and students, work together towards the goal of creating a fun-filled, memorable evening. Funds raised are used to improve the school in a number of areas:
• Media Center and Cafeteria renovation; equipment updates (projectors, printers, textbooks, etc)
• Landscaping and Recycling efforts, and Installation of the electronic sign
• Desks for AP testing (to meet College Board requirements)
Moreover, funds raised enhance several school programs, including Speech & Debate, Music, Journalism, Robotics teams, and college application essay reviews.
