Volunteer

Like robots, satellites, and computers? So do we! Learning for Life “Engineers in Aerospace” Post (LEAP) is an employee-led volunteer program that exposes high school students to engineering through hands-on experiences and networking opportunities. Employee-volunteers meet bi-weekly throughout the academic school year mentoring students. The program includes engineering design activities, special speakers, tours of local universities and LM Space campus, and a final student-led design project.

Activities from previous years include designing, building, and testing wind turbines, flying the flight simulators at Hiller Aviation Museum, using electronic components to build amplifier circuits, learning about rockets from a real astronaut, building Lego Mindstorm robots, and touring the nanofabrication facility at Stanford.

Want to join in the fun? We’re always looking for volunteers to help get kids excited about engineering! We’d also love to welcome your high school-aged kids to join as students. Contact leap.svl@gmail.com for more details.
