A brief description of the learning scenario
As part of my role as a trainer in a large Hospital in the UK, I train clinical staff how IT Systems are used to improve patient care in the workplace.
After a hands-on training session in the classroom, this is followed up in our simulation suite where the learner is asked to perform a number of realistic scenarios to apply their understanding to a real life setting.
A description of an authentic assessment that could be used to assess the learning scenario (Experiential learning).
Experiential learning is a method of educating through first-hand experience. Skills, knowledge, and experience are acquired outside of the traditional academic classroom setting.
It is based on four main elements which operate in a continuous cycle during the learning experience:
Concrete experience
Reflective observation
Abstract conceptualization
Active experimentation
