RePEc profile page
I am a Professor in the School of Economics, Researcher within the Policy Research on International Services and Manufacturing (PRISM) and Research Associate of the Southern Africa Labour and Development Research Unit (SALDRU) in the School of Economics at the University of Cape Town. I am also an IZA Research Fellow.

My research interests fall within the field of international trade and development in Africa. My earlier research focused on the response of African economies to trade liberalisation, looking particularly at the effects on employment, poverty and export performance. More recently I have looked into product market integration in Africa using disaggregated price data and firm-level responses to import competition. My research agenda is generally structured around policy-based research initiatives.
