Board Members of Lovely Ladies of Laurel

The Chair, year term, Celeste Hill, convenes and presides over regularly scheduled Board meetings, and appoints other members of the Board.

The Vice-Chair, year term, Shelly Bennett, chairs committees on special subjects designated by the Board.

The Parent Liaison, a year term, Odile Martin establishes ongoing dialogue between parents and staff, assists parents with language barriers, obtains 100% participation on a monthly parent night, motivates parents to join a formal parent organization, and provides information on all resources available to parents/caretakers for the benefit of students. She further, designs, implements and manages a parent resource center for parents/caretakers.

The Secretary, a year term, Brenda Zeigler-Riley, responsible for keeping records of Boards actions, includes the taking of minutes at all Board meeting, sending out meeting announcements, distributing copies of minutes and the agenda to each Board member, and assuring that corporate records are maintained.

Interpreter, a year term, Yesenia Mejia, facilitates communication between Spanish and English speaking parties, including verbal and written messages.

Technology Advisor, a year term, Angela Batten, will provide technical advice and support for electronic communication, video production, website and social media publishing. She will also provide support at M² events.

Board members are selected based on the following:

Their direct knowledge about the organization’s mission and understanding of the needs of the youth. They must be knowledgeable of the resources that are needed for the youth being served. Board members must have time, commitment, and passion.
