I am an associate professor in the Department of Economics and the Department of International Affairs at the University of Georgia (UGA).

My research interests are in the areas of development economics, labor economics and political economy. I study the political economy impacts of large government initiatives and reforms, with a particular focus on the world's largest public-works program, the Indian NREGS. My work also explores how households allocate resources after economic shocks and what role gender plays in this process. In this capacity, I am affiliated with APRIES (African Programming & Research Initiative to End Slavery) at UGA's Center on Human Trafficking Research & Outreach (CenHTRO).

Since June 2022, I am a member of the Global Young Academy (GYA) and the Co-Lead of its Science Advice Working Group.
