I am an associate professor in the John Munro Godfrey, Sr. Department of Economics and the Department of International Affairs at the University of Georgia (UGA).
My research interests are at the intersection of labor economics, public economics and political economy in developing countries. I study the political economy impacts of large government initiatives and reforms, with a particular focus on the world's largest public-works program, the Indian NREGS. My work also explores how households allocate resources after economic shocks and what role gender plays in this process. In this capacity, I am affiliated with APRIES (African Programming & Research Initiative to End Slavery) at UGA's Center on Human Trafficking Research & Outreach (CenHTRO). I am also a member of the Global Young Academy (GYA) and the its Science Advice Working Group, as well as a Member of the International Science Council (ISC)'s Global Roster of Experts.Â
