Public Engagement

In November 2018 I took part in the event "Talking Smell" as part of the Training the Senses series at Marres in Maastricht, Netherlands. With Saskia Wilson-Brown, Emma Crebolder and the audience, we explored how to communicate about odours.

In May 2018 I gave a talk on "The Language of Smell" at the Smell Festival in Bologna, Italy.

In January 2018 I gave the talk "A neglected sense: The language of smell"at Kop Festival in Deventer, Netherlands.

I have given talks at Odorama, a monthly smell event at Mediamatic in Amsterdam. This event series invites a variety of experts to engage with the audience on all matters related to our sense of smell.

I have taken part in Drongo festival, the largest language festival in the Netherlands. In 2015, my team won the Science Live award for our experiment demo "How wise is your nose?"
