BBC One - Antiques Roadshow, Series 31, Lanhydrock
Fiona Bruce and the team set up for business in the grounds of Lanhydrock, near Bodmin in Cornwall.
The experts are kept busy with another series of exciting finds, including a gold bangle set with precious stones that was found at the bottom of a water tank. An early Valentine tells the story of an unrequited love affair, while a valuation on a silver cup brings the house down.
One hundred years ago, amidst great secrecy, the most important battlecruiser of the First World War was launched by Viscountess Clifden of Lanhydrock House, nr Bodmin.
For the first time excellent quality footage of the Devonport launch can be seen thanks to the efforts of Matt Chapman, a graphic designer and Lanhydrock volunteer who has painstakingly cleaned and restored the original cine-film masters.
Soon after the launch all shipbuilding staff attended a tea-party at Lanhydrock by kind invitation of Lady Robartes during which a ceremonial launching casket (a beautifully carved casket containing the launching hammer, chisel and rope) was presented to Her Ladyship.
Lady Robartes took a great interest in HMS Lion and the welfare of those who served onboard during the First World War. The battleship was decommissioned in 1922 and scrapped in 1924.
