Notes from the Executive

WELCOME TO THE LAKEFIELD GOLDEN YEARS CLUB..............😀  

Welcome to the Lakefield Golden Years Club website.  Here at the club,  we have a busy and diversified schedule with many fun adventures. We are looking to start up more activities, which we will post here as they become available.  We just have to determine the logistics and times.  So check back here often to see what we will be offering!  

We want you and your 'senior' friends and relatives, to attend ANY of our various activities and give them a try.   We feel confident that you will enjoy whatever activity or event that you attend.  We strive to make everyone feel welcome , so please drop by and see what we are all about.  You can check out our 'Activity Schedule' page to see what we currently offer.  You will find a variety of  activities, with even more additions in the months ahead.  We are anxious to offer these to our senior neighbors and friends in the community, and we promise a warm and inviting atmosphere, with wonderful members.      

Plus, we always look forward to hearing suggestions concerning any other new programs, activities or possible events.  If anyone would be interested in seeing some other classes or activities take place at the club, please contact Bev McLuhan @ 705 652-6616 with your ideas & suggestions.   As well, if you would like to help in setting things up or running an activity, we would be very happy to accept volunteers.  It isn't hard to run an activity, and we will show you what is involved.  It only takes a little bit of your time, and brings a lot of satisfaction to aid in the socialization and enjoyment of our seniors.  Please feel free to come out and share any new ideas or fresh perspectives.  

Our yearly memberships fees are due when you join, and every December we collect the fees for the following year.  Our fees for 2024 are $30.00 per year and the deadline to pay your fees is the end of January.   Our members are very friendly, and we have a lot of fun, plus it gives us all the opportunity to socialize and keep our minds sharp.

If you wish to join as a member, please look for the 'Registration form' on this website.  Simply print out the form and fill it out, and then either drop your form off at the club with your fee, or you can contact Don Stephen @ 705 657-1234.  Be sure to mention what activities you are interested in.       Thank you.

Craft & Chat     Classes are on:   Fridays from 1-4:00pm at the Lakefield Golden Years Club

Class size is limited to 20

Some of the possible projects we have planned for this year include:

* a festive centre-piece * tree ornaments

* up-cycled costume jewelry projects * quilted mug rugs        

* painting on glass * pendants                     

* various wall hangings * paper quilling

* barn quilt painting  (for those that missed it last year)

This is a work at your own pace class and if you just want to bring your knitting or other project of your own & hang out for the afternoon, we would love to see you.

The cost to attend each week is $5.00. This amount goes to the club. You will also need to be a member of the Club.  There will be some costs for each project, but in many cases, items can be up-cycled from what you harvest from home or from our favourite place, the Dollar Store.
