Manners of Garbage Disposal
Combustibles
Non-burnable (cans, bottles) (PET bottles)
Used paper (newspapers, copy paper)
Please tie books and magazines together with string and dispose of them as recyclable garbage (miscellaneous paper). Oversized trash (e.g. microwave ovens, simple stoves, etc.) cannot be thrown away. Please take them home and dispose of them according to the policies of your local government. Please also refer to the notice in front of the copy machine on the 4th floor of the East Building of Law and Economics.
Every year, many people throw away garbage as they leave the laboratories. Please do not leave such garbage unattended, as it is a nuisance. Also, please do not leave your garbage in the laboratory before leaving.
Please do not dispose of your household garbage at the university. If you do not know how to dispose of it, please consult with the graduate school office or the graduate association.
In March 2010, the Joint Laboratory was reorganized and all bulky trash was disposed of. Accordingly, we have removed the trash cans from the rooms. Please dispose of garbage responsibly, and do not leave garbage in the Joint Research Laboratory.
When leaving a graduate student laboratory due to completion of studies, withdrawal from the university, or transfer to another graduate student laboratory, please remove all personal belongings from the laboratory you were using. Accumulation of personal belongings of past users in the limited space of the laboratory will cause inconvenience and benefit to current and future users of the laboratory.
In March 2016, the Graduate Association disposed of unwanted items left behind by past users that had accumulated in each graduate student laboratory and collaborative laboratory, and established the following rules
When a graduate student laboratory user leaves a graduate student laboratory due to completion of studies, withdrawal from the university, or transfer to another graduate student laboratory, the user must remove all personal belongings from this laboratory before leaving.
Upon leaving the laboratory, the laboratory user must confirm with the laboratory representative (or his/her deputy) that the laboratory has been cleaned and tidied. If there are any personal belongings left in the room, the representative committee member (or his/her deputy) and the person leaving the room must discuss and decide on the removal and disposal of such belongings.
If the personal belongings are not removed within the time limit set by the room's representative committee members after leaving the room, the withdrawing member relinquishes ownership of the items left in the room and the representative committee members may dispose of them. The cost of such disposal shall be borne by the person leaving the room.
Those who use a graduate student laboratory must submit a written pledge to agree to and comply with the above rules to the representative committee member of their laboratory at the time of assignment or transfer to a graduate student laboratory. Despite the establishment of these rules, the accumulation of unwanted materials in the graduate student laboratories has continued, and the unwanted materials were disposed of again in June 2019. If this situation continues, we will have to consider penalties and other measures. All graduate students are encouraged to dispose of their own unwanted materials generated by their own activities on their own.
If you do not know how to dispose of them, please consult with the Graduate School Office or the Graduate School Association.
