The Edwards Lab at UH Manoa

Theoretical and experimental plankton ecology

The Edwards lab is part of the Department of Oceanography at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. We are broadly interested in phytoplankton, viruses, and other marine organisms, community ecology and evolution, biological oceanography, and quantitative methods. Key themes include the integration of empirical and mathematical approaches to ecological systems, and scaling from ecophysiological traits to the population and community dynamics that underlie ecosystem processes.

We work on many projects with the lab of Grieg Steward, collectively termed the Marine Viral Ecology Laboratories.

The Edwards and Steward labs are currently recruiting grad students! They will be supported by one of two projects, one involving marine microbial food webs, and one involving phytoplankton viruses. See the ad posted here for more detail.
