Kunmong Primary School is a newly established primary school in the Nebilyer Valley community which has a high population density. There has been an influx of students in the new 2021 enrollment, which has been increasing each year. The school has an estimated enrollment of 450 plus students, still in progress of enrolling as of February 10, and we have total of nine teachers.
However, we have got only five traditional hut staff houses, and have NO houses for other four teachers. They live in their own homes and come to school from there, which is in some cases a long way. Also, we have only five classrooms in which we cannot accommodate 450 plus students. We face a very serious problem now.
Therefore, and although we decided to erect a traditional hut (for Grade 5) to cater for the increasing student population (see pictures above), it is still insufficient for our needs. Kunmong Primary School is experiencing an insufficient facilities problem. We need to build the 4 teachers' huts and need more, modern classrooms, but currently lack funding for these projects.
Therefore, we are seeking assistance from interested donor stakeholders, individuals, or organisations, in PNG or worldwide, who can donate to fund such projects.
Another particularly urgent need is to purchase both a photocopier and a portable electricity generator. This will help the teachers greatly with their workload.

NOTE: the Grade 5 bush-material classroom was constructed from a hardwood tree locally called Yar, or Kwila, and the thatching for the walls made from a type of soft bamboo. The construction was the work of head teacher Samuel Wan assisted by others including a community leader. This is a picture of the Kwila tree from which the branches were sourced. A difficult climb!
Thank you so much and may God bless.
