Volunteer Information
MLAJA loves our volunteers! They help with so many things: from field trip drivers to sweeping sidewalks at school. Thanks so much for all you do!
We would love to have your help at school, and we want to keep your child's safety a top priority. The Central California Conference has some requirements for volunteers that we must follow at our school. Following is that information, or you can stop by the office and the secretary can help you. Please note there is new information as of November 2023.
The Central California Conference of SDA has updated their school volunteer process in order to comply with State requirements. New regulations require that all school volunteers complete the Live Scan Fingerprinting process as well as complete the Mandated Reporter Training. Volunteers will only need to complete the DOJ/FBI Live Scan fingerprint process once for their duration of volunteering at MLAJA. The Mandated Reporter Training will need to be repeated every two years.
These new requirements are for EVERYONE! Even if your Sterling Volunteers status is current, you will NOT be able to volunteer at MLAJA until the new volunteer requirements are met.
The Central California Conference has given MLAJA the deadline of December 31, 2023 to become compliant with our volunteers. The Live Scan fingerprinting process can take longer than 30 days to clear so it is important that anyone wishing to volunteer at MLAJA from January 1, 2024, on, start the process at least 30 days prior to that.
To start the process:
FIRST: Complete the Mandated Reporter Training
1. Go to https://mandatedreportertraining.com/
2. Create an account.
3. Select "Volunteer Training" to enable the course.
4. Click “Start Course" to launch the on-demand course player.
5. Use the course player toolbar to navigate through the course. Your progress is saved as you navigate
through the course. Use "Exit Training" if you need to leave the course and come back later.
6. Once you complete the training, you will need to take a test. The website will issue a completion certificate to download.
7. Bring a copy of the certificate into the school office and email a copy to brivera@cccsda.org. The school will need to have a copy of the certificate; as well as the conference.
SECOND: Notify April Stemler in the school office that you wish to be a volunteer.
Fingerprinting results will only be shared with Conference’s Custodian of Records. In order for them to share whether a potential volunteer is cleared to work at the school, the volunteer’s information must be included and submitted on a form from the school office.
The school office will NOT submit any volunteer’s name who has not first completed the Mandated Reporter Training and checked in at the school office.
To check in at the school office:
1. Bring a print out of your completed Mandated Reporter Training certificate.
2. Provide the school office the name, email address, phone number, and
birthdate that you put on your Live Scan form.
THIRD: Take your Live Scan Form to a DOJ approved Live Scan fingerprinting location.
You may pick up a Live Scan Form at the school office, or, download and print one from the button below.
Request a copy of your completed form where you complete the fingerprinting and turn it into the school office to file.
