Dr. Edmonds is a expert in the provision and teaching of the unique principles that make up specialist palliative care. He has multiple published, peer-reviewed research articles focusing on questions of team-based care and complex symptom management. His more casual observations appear in his newsletter, Rounds and Rants.  

He is seen as a leader health policy who has career-long involvement as an advocate and a crafter of policy for the Arizona Medical Association, the California Medical Association, the American Academy of Hospice & Palliative Medicine, and the American Medical Association.
