My research interests lie at the interface of complex photonics and condensed matter physics. In particular, I am working in four related areas of optical physics: nonlinear optics, non-Hermitian physics, semiclassical laser theory, and nanophotonics. Most of the physical systems of interest are that of synthetic lattices, namely periodic, disordered, topological, non-Hermitian. The mathematical methods of solid state physics (Floquet-Bloch theory an bandstructures, time-dependent hamiltonians, Green's functions, open systems formalisms, scattering matrix methods) are directly applied to such physical problems.
