Kodaganallur is situated 15 km west of Tirunelveli.
Six villages form the Kodaganallur Uratchi--they include: Kodaganallur, Nadukkallur, Kizhakkallur, Kizhakkallur MGR nagar, Vadakku Pudukkudi--Kallur, Battankallur- CR colony.
The Uratchi falls under Manur Uratchi ondriyam.
To the north of Kodaganallur Uratchi is Seedaparpanallur; to the east is Pazhavur; to the south is Pathamadai; to the west is Melakkallur.
There are 1125 permanent households in the panchayat, and the total area is 1370.64.5 hectares.
The total population of the panchayat is estimated at 7793 (2001). Among these, 5589 are literate. The male: female ratio is 1:1.02.
The population density was 243 per sq km in 1991, and 569 in 2001.
