Knoxville Recorder Society


The Greater Knoxville Chapter of the American Recorder Society was formed in 1995 to promote early music performance in east Tennessee and neighbouring states.  The group explores a wide variety of music which includes repertoire from the Medieval through Contemporary periods.  

Instrumentation is principally recorders augmented by viols, crumhorns, cornamuses, psaltry, harp, a variety of percussion, cornetto, sackbut and serpent. Meetings are held one Saturday a month, September through May, and are open to anyone having an interest in early music performance (all levels are welcome).
