We hope you enjoy learning about the Greater Knoxville Recorder Society. On this page we will share how we came to be organized, some of our activities over the years and photographs from past rehearsals and presentations.
Greater Knoxville Recorder Society Receives Recognition for 20 Years as a Chapter of the American Recorder Society.
Recently we received congratulations on the 20th years of being a chapter of the American recorder Society. The Greater Knoxville Recorder Society did indeed have its humble beginnings twenty years ago. At our first meeting in September of 1995, there were all of two (but very enthusiastic) people attending. We now have in the neighborhood of fifteen members. We continue to think of the GKRS as an umbrella group which meets eight times during the year. Within the group there are three active (and enthusiastic!) smaller ensembles who meet once a week: Shepard's Pipes, Sweet Potato Pie, and KnoxViol Consort.
We also received a letter from the American Recorder Society in appreciation of the recent growth of our chapter.
