I have got persuaded by a friend to make a six legged robot, and once I constructed the mechanical body, my friend and I will work together to build the circuit board and program it. This project is originated from the common interest that my friend and I have, genetic algorithm and neural network. By combining the two, the program can learn and continuously improve itself. Bearing this in mind, we decided to build a six legged robot as a test platform. Hopefully one day we can see the robot learn how to walk by itself. Here I show you the whole process of building a six legged robot out of aluminum sheet metal and 18 servo motors. For the first robot it took me three days to build. However, I think once you have built one and got familiar with the whole process, it would take as little as one day to transform a sheet metal into a robot!
