BAND TRIP TO MEMPHIS AND NASHVILLE!
1. If anyone gets on the Percussion bus who is NOT a Percussionist, yell at them until they get off.
2. Don't be that annoying freshman who tomahawk chops the concert instruments.
3. If a non percussionist tells you to stop playing, play LOUDER. (unless it's a director or drum major)
4. If you play bass drum, play as loud as humanly possible.
5. Sing "Where Oh Where" as loud as possible or we WILL move you to cymbals for a song.
Lyrics to Where Oh Where:
Where oh where, are you tonight?
why did you leave me here all alone?
I searched the world over and thought I'd found true love
But you met another and pfffft! You were gone.
(Now you don't have an excuse not to sing it)
6. At least have The Senate, Gourdhead, Jig 2, Jammin' Jelly, and Heavy memorized.
7. Only bring your issued instrument, however, you are allowed to switch instruments AT the game unless told otherwise by seniors.
8. Save all broken sticks for end of the year bonfire.
9. Listen to the Drum Captain. Always.
10. Make sure all your screws are in tight and that you or someone else tunes your drum (snares and quads).
11. Stuff left behind unattended in the band room is open game, including unmarked sticks.
12. If you are on cymbals, suck it up and don't complain.
13. If a bass drum breaks their beater during pep band, we will buy them ice cream.
14. A freshman cymbal player must carry the stick bucket.
Tips:
1. Take Ibuprofen before marching for long periods of time.
2. Use the bathroom before marching.
3. DO NOT LOSE YOUR SCREW FOR YOUR FLIP FOLDER. (also do not STEAL screws from others *cough* Parker *cough*)
4. If you play snare, always have two pairs of sticks minimum- breaking sticks are a rite of passage for snare drummers
5. If you are a snare or quad player, mark your sticks before putting them in the bucket. If they are not marked- they are open game.
6. If you break a head *cough* Parker *cough* make sure you tell either the current head drummer or a director as soon as possible.
7. After every pep band game, check your screws and heads, especially the bottom screws and head for snare drummers.
