MEASURE OF SUCCESS
I believe there to be two aspects to being a successful teacher: making the students to achieve end goal of the course along with lifelong skills, and making them enjoy the course. The former is rather obvious, as that is the job of a teacher. Ensuring that the students enjoy the material, though, is just as important as the learning itself. If the students enjoy the class, they will want to learn more, both within the class and outside of it. This too, is the job of a teacher – to encourage learning beyond the classroom.
During my long teaching career, I always get a lot of comments from my students. Here are some of the comments from my students and professors who directly involved and observed in my teaching class.
FEEDBACK FROM TEACHING SUPERVISOR:
Course: PHY 111L
Observed by: Professor Ras B. Pandey (Teaching Supervisor)

Date 26 August, 2007
Dhan was awarded a teaching assistantship in our department under my supervision. I had opportunity to monitor his teaching of the introductory physics laboratory. He was very prepared, and showed a great deal of professionalism not only in his demeanor, but also in his use of the blackboard, his use of technology, his way of presenting it to the class, and the clarity of explanation. He was enthusiastic, passionate and thorough in his explanation of basic ideas and concepts. His interaction with students was very professional and laboratory performance was remarkable. He was able to easily draw analogies and correspondences from different fields, making it possible for young students to appreciate not only the concepts but their relevance. He is dedicated and compassionate in helping students. He is mature, responsible, polite and cooperative to work with students, faculties and management. Students were motivated and very engaged in the activities that were asked to do. The lesson plan was geared towards communication, and class time was efficiently used for that propose.
Dhan has an excellent teaching experience, sound knowledge of fundamental physics and applied mathematics. He has impressive academic caliber, positive attitude towards learning, and a passionate commitment to teach. He is hardworking, cooperative, and innovative.

Dhan,
I write to thank you for having given Ivar Giaever an informative demonstration of electrospinning and electrospun materials characterization in our laboratory. When I talked with him earlier today, he mentioned that you had done “a very good job”. Well done! It’s all too rare to receive an honest compliment, and it’s rarer still for it to come from a Nobel laureate in physics.
All good wishes,
Don

Mr. Khadka,
you are one of the best instructor I have seen. You always state objective of the lab and relevant theory. You demonstrate the lab procedure very effective and scientific way. I like your style very much. You are very well spoken and concise in your delivery of the material needed to complete each lab. When we have questions you are able to answer them clearly and quickly. Your grades in a fair manner. Over all you are one of the an excellent instructor for the Physics Lab.
