The Stableford competition is our most commonly played event. It involves scoring points based on results at each hole.

Using the (Stableford) Index for each hole, players first make a mental allocation of their full handicap over eighteen holes. For example, a player whose handicap is 18 will add one shot to the par value of each hole to determine his own "personal" par for each hole. Thus a hole rated as a par 4 becomes a par 5 for that player.

A player whose handicap is 27 will add two shots to the par value of each hole with an index of 1 to 9, and one shot to holes with an index of 10 to 18. to determine his "personal" par for each hole. Thus a hole rated as a par 4 with an index of 7 becomes a par 6, and a hole rated as par 4 with an index of 16 becomes a par 5, for that player.

Stableford points scored are calculated by allocating 2 points for your "personal" par, 1 point for one over your "personal" par, 3 points for one under, 4 for two under, and so on.

Players who exceed their "personal" par by 2 strokes score no points for that hole and, since they cannot improve on that result, they should pick up their ball and hope to score points on the next hole.

At the end of the round, all points scored are added for each nine holes and totalled for eighteen holes.
