Google Calendar is a really robust calendar app. It's the default calendar on Android devices, too. This means that you can view and edit your Google Calendars on the go with absolutely no issues.

Assignment Calendars

I put all of my assignments in Google Calendar. When students ask what we are going to be doing on some particular day, I just say "check the Calendar." You can make different calendars for different preps and then share or embed each calendar as appropriate. If you're using a Google Sites teacher website, Calendar is one of the default widgets.

Appointment Slots

This is a special feature of Calendar that is only available with educator accounts. With this, you can set up time slots for appointments. Parents and students can then log in (they have to have a Google account) and sign up for a slot. Note: If you have an Educator account but use your personal account, you can just invite your educator profile as an editor on your calendar and use them that way. You'll have to log into the educator account to add the appointment slots, though.
