I am a herpetologist working on the evolution, development, and ecology of amphibians (and the occasional fish). Recent projects have investigated the interactions between amphibian embryos and microbial symbionts. I also specialize in the development of the skeleton and the molecular switches involved in cartilage and bone formation. In 2017 I completed a Fulbright Advanced Research Fellowship in Sri Lanka with my collaborator, Madhava Meegaskumbura. I am currently working with multiple collaborators on the microbial symbionts of amphibian egg capsules.
I am the program director for Advancing Science, which is part of the Science in Motion Consortium. Our program provides access to high quality science equipment and training for K-12 schools in Central Pennsylvania at no cost.
