Suesan MacRae (she/her)
Ph.D. candidate
I am a PhD candidate in the Cognitive, Developmental, and Brain Sciences (CDBS) stream here at the University of Western Ontario. I am co-supervised by Dr. Stefan Köhler and Dr. Ken McRae. I am interested in memory, embodiment, and grounded cognition. In my dissertation work, I am investigating the ways in which motor simulation impacts memory for object-location associations. I compare the impact of motor simulation elicited from a lifetime of experiences with manipulable concepts, and motor activity elicited during specific learning strategies such as enactment.
I am a PhD student in the Cognitive, Developmental, and Behavioural Sciences (CDBS) stream at the University of Western Ontario. I am co-supervised by Dr. Ken McRae and Dr. Stefan Köhler. In 2022, I received my Masters of Science in Psychology (CDBS) at Western. My MSc thesis focused on how cues initiate spontaneous simulations of future and past events.
My specific interests in cognitive psychology include event cognition, episodic future thinking, and autobiographical memory.
Kara Hannah (she/her)
Ph.D.I recieved my PhD candidate in the Department of Psychology (Cognitive, Developmental, and Brain Sciences research cluster) at Western University, in London, ON, Canada. I was co-supervised by Ken McRae and Ryan A. Stevenson, and part of the Brain and Mind.
Most of my research is focused on people’s knowledge and experience of meaningful patterns of behaviours in the world, called event knowledge. I am further interested in how event knowledge relates to traits associated with autism, particularly social communication abilities, and how autistic and non-autistic individuals experience events.
Claudia Morales Valiente (she/her)
Ph.D.I recieved my Ph.D. candidate in the cognitive, developmental, and brain science (CDBS) program at Western University in London, Ontario. I earned my master's degree in the same program under the supervision of Dr. Ken McRae. Previously, I majored in Psychology at the University of Havana, Cuba.
My research interests include using natural language processing (NLP) analyses, mixed-effects and hierarchical modelling to study future-oriented cognition, imagery, and event knowledge.
Malak Osman
Independent Study Student
I am a fourth-year HSP Psychology student at Western University and joined the lab as a research assistant in 2024. I am currently completing an independent research project under the supervision of Mackenzie Bain. My research focuses on event cognition, specifically examining how people represent similarity between everyday events and how these judgments compare to predictions from computational language models.
