Design Testimony of an owner;
"Tara was built in New Zealand to a design conceived to take the good attributes on the American “Deerfoots and “Sundeers" and develop an aft cockpit, steel version with a little better performance. She is a very desirable cruiser, her speed increase easily to 13 knot + , with following seas she will have the similarity of a Santa Cruz 70 and “surf" thus increasing her performance.
Tara is a fantastic performance cruising boat, and we always do 200 plus mile days in any conditions. She has a moderate to light displacement, and is easily driven. The rig is the size of many 45' yachts, and is thus very easy to handle. We cruise only as a couple with our two small children.
With her large aft rudder, light displacement and long waterline, she steers very easily and precisely. The yacht is in superb condition and ready to go anywhere."
2022 Important Note;
Over the years this yacht has changed owners and of recent times I have noticed some misleading information in promotion of this design.
It is my design, not a Denis Ganley Design and although I built a few of Denis's designs, this design in principal is unique and I believe in very good ways.
Secondly, I have seen the yacht promoted as having a 5mm hull and 4mm steel deck. This is not correct, the hull is 4mm and the deck 3mm. For a steel yacht it is lightly constructed which is great for performance and yet she is still very strong.
I welcome any inquiries in regard to the design if someone is considering purchasing her.
