What Is The PTA?

The National Congress of Parents and Teachers is the oldest and largest child advocacy association in America. National PTA is comprised of more than 4 million parents, teachers, grandparents, caregivers, foster parents and other caring adults who share a commitment to improving the education, health, and safety of all children. We speak with one voice for every child.

Karigon Elementary PTA is a local PTA unit organized under the New York State PTA, a branch of the National PTA. We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit association and we are noncommercial, nonsectarian and nonpartisan.

The purposes of the Karigon PTA, in common with those of the National PTA and the New York State PTA, are:

To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship.
To raise the standards of home life.
To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth.
To bring closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth.
To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social and spiritual education.
