Kalen began his collegiate studies in History at Cornell University in 2013, and continued studying the same discipline at Roberts Wesleyan College(RWC), with a minor in music. In May of 2018, Kalen graduated cum laude from Roberts Wesleyan with a bachelors degree in History.A self-avowed autodidactic polymath, Kalen possessess a voracious appetite for knowledge of all subjects. Most recently, he wrote a science fiction story entitled "Vers La Flamme" and is available on Amazon.com in ebook format. As a pianist Kalen Winfrey began his at the age of six and has since performed in some of the country's finest concert halls. In recent years Kalen has appeared at New York City’s Merkin Concert Hall, the Kosciuszko Foundation’s Auditorium (NYC), the Eastman School of Music’s Hatch and Kilbourn Halls, the Hochstein School of Music Performance Hall, as well as at Ford Hall at Ithaca College, Wilmot Hall at Nazareth College, Barnes Hall at Cornell University, and Cramton Auditorium at Howard University. Kalen has taken top prizes in national and international piano competitions including the Bradshaw and Buono International Piano Competition (2010), and the American Protégé International Piano Competition (2009). Kalen is an active participant in the Gateways Music Festival, a Classical music festival dedicated to celebrating musicians and composers of African descent held biennially in Rochester New York. In 2012, Kalen was awarded a diploma in piano from the Eastman Community Music School. Regarding teachers, Kalen has studied piano under the tutelage of Linda Moore, Dr.Joseph Irrera, David Friend, Ryan McCullough, and Dr.Sarah Rhee. While still a High School student, Mr. Winfrey participated in the Nazareth College Piano Camp for two consecutive Summers, which allowed him the opportunity to study with several locally renowned pedagogues. Additionally, Kalen has participated in masterclasses held by Professor Dr.Sang Woo Kang of Providence College and the highly sought after concert pianist and Professor of piano Dr.Douglas Humpherys of the Eastman school of Music. In Fall of 2018, Kalen met the renowned French-Canadian supervirtuoso pianist Marc-Andre Hamelin in concert.
