Satellite View
The satellite image shows the setting of the Kalarama Cottage, surrounded by a 350 acre private conservation reserve partly owned by The Trustees of Reservations (TTOR) Mountain Meadow Reserve and partly by the Williamstown Rural Lands Foundation (WRL). Hiking/walking trails are “right out the back door” of the cottage and serve as cross-country ski trails during winter months. It's just a short 5 minute walk to Vermont.
The trail system in the reserves is a fascinating journey for witnessing examples of the last glacial period, as this area was at, or near, the shore-line of ancient Lake Bascom; glacial potholes, an outwash gorge, and vernal pools can be seen in the reserves. The TTOR and WRL conservation reserves connect to Clarksburg State Forest and Green Mountain National Forest.
