This is our annual fundraiser for youth missions. Families are asked to help with both unloads and covering two sale slots during the month. All money raised from this goes toward our youth mission projects.
The Pumpkin truck is scheduled to arrive Sunday September 27th by 12:30pm. We will provide pizza and salad after worship for all those who volunteer to help unload the truck. Usually we unload the truck in 2 hours. When you come to help please bring garden/work gloves (some pumpkins are messy), a wagon (to carry the orange pumpkins), and a gas-powered blower (to clean the hay out of the truck).
If you are not the pumpkin lifting kind of person, we still have a lot of jobs Sunday during the unload that are not a strenuous. We need people to help serve pizza and salad, fix drinks, and make sure the workers are staying hydrated and encouraged. We also need help organizing our children who set up the small pumpkin area, and people to rake hay as it falls out of the truck.
If you have some extra energy and/or a pickup truck, we need people to load and unload the pallets. If you have a connection to pallets (especially sod pallets) please help us find a way to get them to John Wesley before Sunday September 27th. We hope to have over 200 pallets to help keep the pumpkins fresh longer and the grass greener.
After the unload we need people to help sell pumpkins in two-hour shifts. We open the patch Monday-Friday 10am-8ish, Saturday 9am-7pm, and Sunday 12ish-8ish. We recommend that you bring someone to help you in the patch.
We will also get a second truck on Sunday October 11th and have the unload party again that Sunday. We will provide lunch again and do the same unload stuff listed above again.
On Sunday October 25th we will celebrate with the community the success of the pumpkin patch by hosting our Annual Trunk or Treat. We ask that you park a car in the designated front parking lot spots, decorate your truck and have some candy to hand out to the children who come to trick or treat. We ask that cars set up from 4-5pm because trick or treating is 5-6pm. The Youth ministry will be cooking hotdogs and providing chips and lemonade to everyone.
