The subject biology is a subject that deals with enquiry. It ask and answers some basic questions about life. In studying biology it is important to be inquisitive about life forms around you.
In other words asking such questions as Why, What, Where, When, Who and How. That is 5W & H.
Biology should be viewed as a series of solutions to problems facing living organisms in their environment. Once the problem can be identified then the solution can be easily explained and understood.
In identifying the said problems it is advisable to follow the scientific way of solving problems. These are as follows:
Observation:This is the first step towards problem solving. It is what is observable that a scientist will altimately work on. It will most likely be in the form of what goes on around you. For example if there is a promblem of starvation in an area this is an observable function,
Hypothesis: When the problem has been observed a guess is mae for the cause of the said problem. A guess that will support starvation in an area may be that of over population. Such statements are not laws but only guess work.Experiments are needed to either suport such claims or denounce them.
Data collection: During the experiments that would be carried out data would be collectedand recorded to either support the hypothesis or not. If at the end of the experimentation and data collection it is discovered that in deed the number of organisms found in the area is responsible for the starvation then the next stage in this scientific deduction is reached
Theory: This is a statement postulated afteraseries of experimentation has been carried out to suport the experiment carried out. This may either support or refute the hypothesis made in the begining of the experimentation
Law: After further experiments have been carried out over a numberof times and the results continues to be about the same then it becomes a Law.
Biology is also a living subject. You are not only able to solve problems with the knowledge of Biology but can also prevent problems from occuring.
Many scientist have discovered that by monitoring the behaviour of animals disasters can be predicted and lives can be saved.
Also the knowledge of the life cycles of organisms causing diseases has enable man to either create vaccines that immunize the body of the host or drugs that will kill the vectors of the said organisms.
This has enable man to decrease its mortality rate and increase the natality rate.
The knowledge of Biology also enables a person to be aware of his person and his environment. Man have come to realise that the knowledge of animal behaviour can help man live well with his ecosystem.

Vetinary medicine
Pharmacy
Pharmacology
Pharmacognocy
Dentistry
