After rave reviews for Caspar's 2022 Zoom workshop, we are excited he can join us finally for June Camp 2026 !
Caspar was born in 1990 in the Netherlands and raised in an amateur folk dancing family. Since a young age he has performed with many international and regional folk dance groups. He graduated in 2013 from the Codarts Dance Academy, where he now continues to instruct. As a dancer Caspar loves diversity, not only within folk dance, but in different dance genres as well, leading him to take courses in ballroom dancing, tap dance, eurythmy, and classical ballet, but international folk dancing was always his primary interest.
Caspar has worked with various ensembles as a performer, choreographer and artistic director, including Mladost (Bulgarian), Hayde (Turkish), and Holland Express (Dutch). His research focus is on Georgian dance. Caspar regularly works as a dance teacher in a secondary school and creates stage musical productions for kids and teenagers with voice and drama teachers.
Caspar is also becoming more widely known for his teaching of workshops at events internationally. He has been highly praised for his appearances at Stockton Folk Dance Camp, Mainewoods Dance Camp, and California’s Fall Camp. Zoom audiences enjoyed his clear teaching as part of the online programming from the Folk Arts Center of New England, Stockton, Mainewoods, and the Laguna-San Antonio Spring Festival.
Diversity is the main aspect that inspires Caspar as a dancer and as a teacher. Teaching many different styles at many different levels at many different places is what gives indefinite inspiration. The differences provide knowledge and perspective. "The variety of every dance style, dance group, or even individual dancers is key to why dancing will always be interesting and new. That's what international folk dancing is about, right?”
