Here is the harmony butterfly. It is ready to fly
This is butterfly is not a real butterfly but it flies as a real one as you tap on the jar
Top part of the jar has its lid. It has a motor in it and butterfly is connected to the lid with a metal string
The motor is powered by 3 AAA batteries, as seen in the picture.
Scientific Principle of the Conservation of Mechanical Energy
The physics principle on energy is that energy cannot be created or destroyed it just transfer from one to another one. For example potential energy can transfer to kinetic energy but total energy remain constant. There are some different type of energies. Such as Potential energy, Kinetic energy, Chemical energy, Electrical energy, Nuclear energy, Light energy. But it does not matter for an object, what kind of energy it has, total energy stays constant.
In my demonstration, As I move my fingers they have kinetic energy because Kinetic energy is the energy of motion. When I tap to the lid of the jar, the motor in the lid, transfer the kinetic energy of my finger to the butterfly as kinetic energy again. Because of kinetic energy is the energy of motion, then butterfly moves. As I keep tapping, butterfly keeps moving. When I stop tapping to the lid, butterfly stops moving.
