Do not bring skimpy or revealing clothing such as short crop tops that show your stomach, shorts that are too short (we call then Daisy Dukes), or clothing that is too tight, this includes dresses that are too tight.
Only modest swimming suits will be allowed at all camp activities. Some of our host families have young children and we do go to water activities in public parks, so thongs, string bikinis and other revealing swimming suits are not allowed.
Facial and other body piercings are not acceptable for our camp. Pierced ears are fine (not gauges), but for your safety they should be appropriate for the activity (i.e. small earrings for outside activities).
No public nudity is allowed at any time.
Summer weather in Texas is wonderful and hot! While you are here, we will have lots of adventures to many different places in Texas - however, bring a light sweater or jacket. While it is hot outside, the air conditioning is often a little cool on the inside of buildings. Below are guidelines to help you pack, as well as Dress Code expectations.
Dress Cool and Comfortable: Most of our activities will be casual or outside, so the dress will also be casual. Bring cool tops, sun dresses, shorts or short pants (capris), comfortable shoes for walking, and modest swimming suits. Sun glasses & Sunscreen are also good!
More Formal Dress (considered Business Casual): We will visit places where casual outdoor dress is not appropriate such as Lions Club meetings, our state capitol, a visit with a state senator/representative, and an American justice center & courtroom. Boys should bring a pair of nice pants and a shirt, while girls should bring a dress or long pants and a nice top. Again, comfortable shoes are important. Camp staff and/or your host family will let you know when this type of dress is expected.
The Farewell Dance: On your last night in Texas, there will be a dinner and dance for the campers and their host families. There is no official dress code for this event, but many of the students like to wear more formal attire. This is your night to dress as casual or as fancy as you would like.
