I spend most of my free time with our kids, preferably doing puzzles, building something, or answering three trilion "why?" questions. Our two children keep Susanne (check out her amazing work!) and me busy.
If any time is left, I love sports, jazz, and reading long novels or short stories.
I play a strange sport called floorhockey (also called floorball or unihockey). It's kind of ice hockey without ice. It's fast. It's fun. Check it out (no, that's not me in the video). This makes me forget everything else for a few hours as I'm trying to catch my breath. After having traveled lots through Germany playing in the 2. Bundesliga (first with Konstanz, then Frankfurt), I now play with the Frankfurt Falcons in the more relaxed regional league.
Jazz music plays a major role in my life. I enjoy playing the saxophone -- I find much less time than I used to, though -- and no day passes without listening to outstanding musicians like Snarky Puppy, Dave Holland, Chris Potter, Joshua Redman, Brad Mehldau, Brian Blade & the Fellowship Band, Kamasi Washington, GoGo Penguin, Jacob Collier, The Bad Plus, or Avishai Cohen, who keep pushing the boundaries and inspire me by showing that what seemed impossible yesterday is possible today (or tomorrow).
I'm a passionate hiker, trekker, mountainbiker, and trail runner. You can find me running trails in the Taunus or doing trips backpacking throughout Europe or Asia. Below are some impressions from Nepal, Laos, Turkey, Corsica, and the Alps. I love traveling and am happy that I have only visited 15% of all countries of this world so far.
I own a pasta- and an ice-cream maker.
