Homework:

Homework will be collected and returned every Thursday in TA meetings, starting on Thursday, October 10; there will be nine assignments.

Below you can see the exact questions. Only some of the questions, chosen at random, will actually be graded, however it is strongly recommended that you attempt all the questions in the assignment. Late homework will not be accepted, but your lowest homework score will be dropped.

Your homework has to be submitted in a form obeying the following rules:

In the upper right corner of the first page put:

  • Last and first name.
  • Student ID.
  • Date, Homework number.
  • Staple your homework.
  • Write legible. No crumpled, torn paper.
  • Label each solution with the section and problem number (e.g. 2.4 #5).

We will not accept your homework if it violates any of the above rules.

  • Homework 2 due on Thursday, Oct 10.
  • Homework 3 due on Thursday, Oct 17.
  • Homework 4 due on Thursday, Oct 24.
  • Homework 5 due on Thursday, Nov 07.
  • Homework 6: Exercises 14.1, 14.3, 14.4, 14.12, 15.1, 15.3, 15.6, 17.10, 17.12, 17.13 from the textbook, due on Thursday, Nov 14.
  • Homework 7: Exercises 18.8, 18.9, 18.12 , 19.1, 19.3, 19.4, 19.7(a), 20.12, 20.16, and 20.20 from the textbook, due on Thursday, Nov 21.
  • Homework 8 due on Thursday, Dec 05.
  • Homework 9 not to be turned in, but good exercise for the final.
