Born in Buenos Aires, Jorge Romero studied piano and composition at the Conservatory of Córdoba and at the National University of Córdoba, Argentina. As a Fulbright Scholar, he received a Master’s degree in piano performance at Ball State University under Robert Palmer. While getting his MA, he received the Prize of Academic Excellence and the Phi Kappa National Music Honor of U.S.A. In France, as a grantee from the French Government, he studied with France Clidat and got his Diplôme in piano and Diplôme Supérieur in chamber music at the École Normale de Musique de Paris A. Cortot. He also studied with Gérard Frémy, Anne Queffélec, Théodore Paraschivesco and Tamas Vesmas (Schola Cantorum). Finally, he has worked under the artistic direction of Sandra Chamoux (École Normale de Musique de Paris A. Cortot).
With a 15-year teaching career at the Conservatory of Córdoba and the National University of Córdoba, Argentina, Jorge Romero has performed in Argentina, Chile, the United States, Germaby, Spain, Switzerland and in France. He won the first prize in Córdoba, in the UNESCO musical performance competition in 1996. He has written compositions for piano, orchestra and chamber music. Continuing with his musical career in Paris, Jorge Romero is interested in promoting South American piano repertory (Ginastera, Guastavino, Villa Lobos and others) and their links with European composers such as Debussy and Bartók.
