This workshop is designed for a parish council or leadership committee that feels “stuck” and does not know how to proceed.
Groups of 5-15 people (Vestry; Committees on Mission, Finance, Sustainability, Liturgy, Outreach, etc.) can use this workshop to refresh and recenter their vision, and to strategically outline upcoming steps.
The workshop is available in person, or online, in each of the following formats:
a 4-hour SNAPSHOT WORKSHOP
a day-long EXPLORATION EXPERIENCE
an evening + full day IN-DEPTH EVENT
The process begins with a one-hour preliminary consultation: What strengths does your team bring to the table? What challenges have you already identified? What strategies have you already tried? In what ways did they work or fall short?
The workshop combines prayer, gentle movement, creativity, and structured discussion.
You will learn to use the “Circle of Discernment,” a faith-ful method of analysis and community planning. Listen with your hearts, analyze with your minds, remember and imagine with your souls, plan and act with your strength (Mark 12:20).
You will also use the games and exercises of lectio visceralis (embodied theological reflection) to explore your group’s hopes and frustrations.
Clarify your vision. Map the politics of your congregation and broader community. Figure out how to move forward together. Turn potential partners into actual allies.
