A five year old boy has allegedly drowned this afternoon at the J.H
Kroneberg primary school in Kensington. Allegedly the boy who was
attending a vacation school at the premises was playing with some
friends in the courtyard when they accidentally kicked a ball over a
wall.
The five year old boy then scaled the wall enclosing the pool area to
retrieve the ball. After approximately ten minutes his friends and
supervisors realized that the child had still not returned and went
searching for him. Upon investigating the pool area they found the
child floating at the deep end of the pool.
They then promptly activated the emergency services to assist with the
situation. When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene, Metro EMS and
Vincent Palloti Life paramedics had already started resuscitation
efforts on the child. The child was then transported to the Red Cross
children’s hospital with the paramedic’s still actively doing CPR on
the child.
With summer upon us and more and more people entering the water either at our beaches or swimming pools, ER24 encourages parents and
supervising adults to be extra vigilant over children swimming or
playing around pools.
