GRADING

Every four months students are given the opportunity to grade to their next belt, provided they have attended enough classes.

There are ten belts (Kyu grades) from white belt leading up to black belt. Typically, Kyu grading examinations take place at the club on the first Saturday of February, June and October.

Senior Kyu grades are expected to attend certain courses long before they reach black belt. These courses are usually taken by our Chief Instructor, Alan Campbell Sensei, thus maintaining a high standard throughout the organisation. To encourage this, we no longer grade anyone beyond brown belt, requiring them instead to attend such a course and grade under Alan Sensei.

Full details of the grading syllabus can be found here.
