As usual during the Chinese New year period the Chinese community here always hold a charity ball for a worthy cause. We also support this function attended by the Lord Mayor of the City of Melbourne and other State and Federal officials or their representatives if we are in town. For the new Year of the Ox the charity ball was hosted by a joint corporation formed by various Chinese associations here. The Australian Chinese Events Committee Inc. - Chinese New Year charity Ball 2009 was held at the prominent venue - The Palladium Ball Room at the Crown Entertainment Complex situated in the South Bank at the edge of the Yarra River right at the city centre.
