2026
January
-FUNDED! Our Retina Research Foundation grant was renewed for another year. Thank you again RRF!!!
-Alice Muteba, BIO395 student joins the lab to work on mapping the interaction domains involved in prom1b and cdhr1a interactions.
-Kailly Oum, a BSc graduate joins the lab to work with Meet Patel on retinal phenotyping and immunohistochemistry.
April
NEW Lab publication:
Patel, M., Piedade, W., Famulski J.K. Cdhr1a and pcdh15b link photoreceptor outer segments with inner segment calyceal processes revealing a potential mechanism for cone-rod dystrophy. eLife. April 2026. doi.org/10.7554/eLife.102258.3
This work showcases the interaction between two retinal cadherins, cdhr1a and pcdh15b which may be critical for homeostasis of cone outer segments and could represent a disease mechanisms for cone-rod dystrophy.
June
Mckalya Seewood, a KY INBRE student join the lab for the summer and is working on the connection between chemokines and optic fissure fusion under the supervision of Sejuti Naurin.
July
-Sejuti Naurin gives a platform presentation at the Midwest Zebrafish Meeting in Grand Rapids MI, on her work examining chemokine signalling during optic fissure fusion.
NEW DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE, Meet Patel graduates with his PhD, congrats Meet!!!
August
-Karsyn Grundy, a BIO395 student joins the lab to work on sprouty 4 and its association with optic fissure fusion under the supervision of Sejuti Naurin.
