Teaching
I teach courses on American Politics, Voting Rights Law and Politics, American Politics through Music, American Politics Through Film, the American Presidency, American Political Development, and American Social Policy in Comparative Perspective. In recent years, most of my teaching has focused on Introduction to American Politics, American Politics Through Music, and The Law and Politics of Voting in the United States. I have received several teaching awards, including the Pi Sigma Alpha Instructor of the Year (2010); a Microsoft IMPACT grant to improve Introduction to American Politics (2011); a Lilly Teaching Fellowship (2012); and a FlexLearning Fellowship (2022) to develop a multimodal certificate in Public Opinion and Survey Research.Â
