Partnership with Demos

I have partnered with Demos, a progressive think tank, to develop public-facing research on high-profile political issues. During the 2015-2016 academic year, Brian Schaffner and I produced a series of reports studying political donors. In 2016-2017, we  examined sources of bias in political participation, producing analyses of the benefits of Automatic Voter Registration in Oregon and assessing the causes and consequences of changes in voter turnout in presidential elections between 2012 and 2016. In 2018-2019, I worked with Demos to assess the demographics of donors in municipal elections in Baltimore and Albuquerque; and in 2020-2021 I partnered with the organization to study the effect of same day registration on the turnout of historically marginalized groups.
