Iowa Assessment Results

Below is the Iowa Assessment Data for the three separate literacy blocks I taught during both the 2015-16 school year and the 2016-17 school year.  In this data, you can see that I had per-class averages of up to 23.7 points and 25.35 points per student for each respective year, with a general per-student average for all three blocks of 13.27 points and 15.85 points, well above the statewide average reading gain of 9.25 points per student.  I was obviously happy with the increase most of my students experienced.  However, the low Block 8 class average is a bit disheartening to me. My analysis of this trend includes the fact that these standardized assessments were all given during each student's literacy block, which means Block 8 students were testing at the end of the day. This is the biggest factor I attribute to each of the Block 8 averages being lower than the other two blocks. However, despite the assessment data for these two blocks, meaningful, authentic gains were experienced in each block.
