Answer the following questions:
1. In the Teachable Machine activity, what inputs were easy for the program to learn to distinguish and what inputs were more difficult?
Answer
The inputs that were easy for the program to learn and distinguish were simple, basic, and had an easily discernible shape. The inputs that were more difficult and had a lesser accuracy were more complex and obscure.
2. Search online and identify another application area for AI or machine learning besides the ones described in this lesson. Is this task hard easy for humans but hard for computers to do?
Answer
This task is harder for humans in general, however it depends on the case. In some instances, a human will determine the drawing faster and in others they will determine the drawing at a slower rate.
3. In this lesson you saw some examples of gender bias in a machine translation program. Identify another form of unconscious bias and give an example of how it could affect a computer program. Explain how that could be a harmful effect on society, economy, or culture.
Answer
Another form of bias that could occur is discrimination on the basis of race, along with on the basis of sex. This could be a harmful effect, as a program could assume the race of an individual and steer them into a mistaken situation.
