Shobar Khamar (সবার খামার)
Shobar Khamar (সবার খামার) is an ambitious national initiative aimed at building Bangladesh's first AI-driven Livestock Operating System. Supported by a research grant of 2.49 Crore BDT under the ICSETEP Research and Development Grant of the University Grants Commission (UGC), the project represents a unique collaboration between academia and industry.
The initiative is jointly led by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at United International University (UIU) and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), in partnership with Tirzok Private Limited. By combining cutting-edge research, artificial intelligence, and practical industry expertise, Shobar Khamar seeks to create a smarter, more sustainable future for livestock farming in Bangladesh.
Livestock farming plays a crucial role in Bangladesh's economy and food security. However, farmers often face challenges such as limited access to veterinary services, delayed disease diagnosis, inadequate market connectivity, and lack of data-driven decision-making tools.
Shobar Khamar envisions a future where every livestock farmer, regardless of location or scale, can access advanced digital services through a single integrated platform. Our goal is to make livestock management more efficient, accessible, and sustainable through the power of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
The project is being conducted under the guidance of Dr. Jannatun Noor Mukta from United International University (UIU) and Dr. Alim Al Razi from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).
Researchers, software engineers, AI specialists, and domain experts are working together to develop scalable and cost-effective technological solutions that address real-world challenges faced by livestock farmers across Bangladesh.
The collaboration bridges academic research and practical implementation, ensuring that innovative solutions can be effectively deployed in the field and adopted nationwide.
Shobar Khamar is designed as a comprehensive digital ecosystem for livestock management. The platform integrates multiple services into a unified experience, including:
AI-powered disease detection and diagnosis
Digital veterinary consultation and telemedicine
Livestock marketplace and trading services
Farm management and record-keeping tools
Health monitoring and vaccination tracking
Data-driven insights and decision support systems
Farmer education and knowledge-sharing resources
By connecting farmers, veterinarians, researchers, and service providers, the platform aims to create a technology-enabled livestock ecosystem that benefits all stakeholders.
On 12 April 2026, a stakeholder and team meetup for Shobar Khamar was organized, bringing together research teams from BUET and UIU, along with the development team from Tirzok Private Limited.
The session served as an important milestone in the project's journey, providing an opportunity to review progress, align research objectives, discuss technical challenges, and plan future development activities. The event reinforced the shared commitment of all partners toward building a next-generation digital platform for Bangladesh's livestock sector.
The discussions highlighted the project's long-term vision of creating accessible, technology-driven solutions that can positively impact farmers throughout the country.
At the core of Shobar Khamar lies a strong research foundation focused on artificial intelligence, computer vision, machine learning, and digital health technologies.
The project investigates innovative approaches to livestock disease detection, farm monitoring, and predictive analytics. By leveraging modern AI techniques, the platform aims to provide farmers with timely insights that support better decision-making and improve animal welfare.
The research outcomes are expected to contribute not only to practical applications but also to the advancement of scientific knowledge in agricultural technology and AI-driven healthcare systems.
Shobar Khamar represents more than a technology project; it is a vision for the future of livestock farming in Bangladesh.
By integrating artificial intelligence, research innovation, and farmer-centric design, the project seeks to empower livestock farmers, improve productivity, strengthen food security, and contribute to the country's digital transformation.
As development continues, Shobar Khamar aims to become a trusted platform that connects technology with agriculture and brings the benefits of AI to farmers across Bangladesh.
Shobar Khamar (সবার খামার): A vision long held, now becoming reality.
