James and Jane Pearson Family Organization Planning Meeting

HACKING FAMILY ORGANIZATION MEETING

Scheduled for Thursday, 24 March 2011

at the Salt Lake Millcreek Family History Center

1:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a meal break at 5:00 PM

I am a trainer at MFHC and I will be teaching a course on organizing and collaborating with family members and plan to use our family as an example. I will be sending out a syllabus at the beginning of March. Possible topics include Communication, Organization Planning and Meetings, Web Sites and Digital Resources, Research Collaboration, Family Fun, and Educating the Family about Their Heritage. I probably won't be talking too much about the typical family reunions, but more ongoing activities and events that build strong family organization relationships and cooperation. I welcome any who would be interested in sharing you expertice in these areas.

It is our goal to organize as a nonprofit organization before the end of this year. However, we need your help because there is a lot we need to do. Watch for more announcements and forms/surveys to participate in this process.

During September I will be visiting California and then up to Washington and would love to meet with family members along the way. Please let me know if you can meet during this time. I will have my schedule posted later.

It is not neccessary that the meeting is held in a Family History Center, but they do have the Internet and family history resources available.

The agenda will be trying out the Chat format and troubleshooting any problems. An email with instructions was sent out to members. Please note that you will need to have a Google Account to participate. However, as with your Google Group Membership, you may use any email address, but it should be the same one you have attached to your Google Account. If you have not yet completed a registration for a Google Account, please do so before the Chat time. I will be online an hour early, starting at 5:00 PM MT to help you log on to the system and make sure you have the resources you need. If you can't log in, send an email to jamesnjane.hackingfo@gmail.com or call 801-281-2146 and we will help you out.

Once we have everyone logged in, the discussion will be:

• Some of the ways we can collaborate in our research.
